I must admit, as I type this I have khaki nails, and the week before I had deep, berry red talons. So clearly, I kind of ignore the rules of summer. However, I’m a big fan of bright nails too. I love colour, and summer time is a great excuse to crack out the brightness. I thought I’d share my top 5 nail colours that evoke thoughts of beachy, music festival & cocktail days..
Essie’s Orange it’s Obvious is a very bright, but not neon, orange. It is an absolute true orange colour, I wouldn’t say it leaned more yellow or red. This is one of those colours that makes me look like I have more of a tan, and I imagine it would look gorgeous on someone with a tan, but unfortunately I’ll never know! Essie polishes really do live up to the hype, the brush is one of those round, wide ones for easy application and it’ll be opaque within two coats. I find it lasts between 5-7 days.
Paese Nail Laquer in 342 is a beautiful, bright yellow. I absolutely love Paese polishes. They’re probably my favourite brand, I had a mint green colour of theirs on my nails for 2 weeks with no chipping, and their Acrylic Hardener is my go-to topcoat that makes the cheapest of polishes last roughly a week. This is very bright, but once again, it’s not neon. I love this colour, it’s really fun and once again, makes me look a little less anaemic! The formulation of this isn’t my absolute favourite. It does take about 3 coats and can be a little streaky, and will chip without a topcoat. With a topcoat and some careful painting, the colour is stunning.
Wet n Wild Megalast in Heatwave is a gorgeous colour, the absolute picture of summer. It looks quite red in the photo, but it’s more of a coral-pink-orange. It’s less bright so more accessible and less “daring”, if you’re the sort of person who’s scared of nail colours. It’s opaque within 2 coats, and the finish is glossy and beautiful. As always, I will put on a topcoat and it will last a good 5 days.
GOSH Frosted Nail Laquer in Soft Coral is the only glittery colour of the bunch. It’s described as a matte, glitter finish and it’s an interesting one.. A sort of sandy effect. As this is a glitter, it will last really well, and is an absolute bitch to get off. The first coat goes on sheer, but the second coat makes it practically opaque. It’s softer and more pastel-ly, it’s very pretty and girly.. I think this will be my nail colour next week!
Essence Colour & Go in Absolutely Blue is a pastel, powder blue. It’s the absolute prettiest, pastel blue. I adore pastel blue colours, and this is slightly unusual. I really love the way that Essence polishes paint, the brush is that round, large brush type that I love, and they also go on very glossy and opaque. They do chip quite quickly mind, so I wouldn’t use this without a topcoat.
