This is a super impromptu post, but my nails looked so cool that I thought they ought to have a post dedicated to them! I wanted something extra-funky for festival-ing (lets be honest, I’d wear these anytime anyway), so I experimented a bit and came up with these badboys. They took about an hour to finish and it was overnight before they FULLY dried, but I adore the effect! It is kind of like some sort of futuristic mermaid tail, and I’m all about that life. There’s a mixture of chunky silver glitter and small flecks of holographic glitter, and the effect it gives when you look at them under them light is just too cool. How I did it…
Step 1: I just did a basecoat of my fave ever top/basecoat, the Paese Acrylic Hardener*. Just to prevent too much damage to my nails.
Step 2: I painted 1 coat of Barry M Gelly Shine in Chai*. It’s nearly opaque in one coat but not quite, but I didn’t want to bother with a second as this was simply providing a base colour, to keep with the effect everywhere the glitter didn’t shine through.
Step 3: This is the tedious, albeit slightly fun part. I alternated my two glitter topcoats in layers – first the chunky silver (Wet n’ Wild Mega Rocks in I’m with the Band*), then the smaller glitter (Wet n’ Wild Wild Shine in Kaleidoscope*) until it was opaque. The day after I took these, I also dug out an iridescent blue Wet n’ Wild Mega Rocks in Stick it to the Man* to add some extra mermaid-y vibes.
Step 4: I topcoated again with my Paese favourite and there you have it! Space mermaid nails.
